Manchester, STETHS U16s in tight battle

St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) will have to chase heir highest target of the season during the course of today to win the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA)/First Global Financial Services rural Under-16 final, after opponents Manchester High put in a creditable performance to post 184 all out yesterday in Santa Cruz.
STETHS, who are looking to earn their fourth title in four finals this season, were 39 for one when stumps were drawn at 6 p.m.
Manchester, who dethroned last year's champions BB Coke of Junction in the semi-finals last week in Mandeville, took first strike but lost a wicket in the very first over of the day.
However, their most accomplished batter, Christopher Powell, who represented Jamaica in the regional under-15 championship, took charge to score 90 - almost half of his team's total. Kashane McDonald, who bats at No. 4, got the next highest score of 21.
Powell, whose four wickets helped bowl out BB Coke for a mere 51, looked completely in control until he lost his wicket to a catch on boundary at 151 for four.
His departure immediately exposed the Manchester middle and lower order and they collapsed.
Ramaal Lewis (four for 39) and Roshane Manning (four for 63), who both represented the Jamaica under-15 team last season, got the bulk of the wickets for STETHS.
