Partygoers get directions to 'Atlantis'

When the hot summer days are upon us many head to the pool or the beach, or may just simply sit in front of a fan at home.

But how about having an adventure? How about going to the lost city of Atlantis?

Grab your swimwear and let's go, says Kareem Golbourne of Hyflex Entertainment, as 'Atlantis - Resplash Pool and Foam Edition' is to be held at the Constant Spring Golf Club, St Andrew, on July 10.

"The summer sun can be unbearable at times, so why not head to the pool for some cool fun with friends and friends of theirs and friends of their friends?" asked the 20 year-old, who has over three years in the business of party promotion.

"Hyflex saw the need for an alternative to the normal parties that are held in Kingston and decided to go with a pool party. We're giving them something that many of them don't experience on a regular basis and mix it with all the fun and excitement. We've given them a top-class venue at the Constant Spring Gulf Club, so it's gonna be a splash," Goulbourne said.

His two main areas of focus are liquor and ladies.

"There has to be a variety of liquor because there are always going to be different types of people going to a party. And for a pool party we have to have as many females as possible. We can't have an overkill of males," he laughed.

A ladies 2-for-1 special is intended to attract the women.

Efficient promotion

The hardest part of organising 'Atlantis', Golbourne said, was making sure everything was done before a specific date in order for the promotions to begin. With a pool party, he said, one has to do efficient promotion in order to give people a reason to attend the event.

"That's the key, promotion, or else no one will be at your party. Things like flyers, radio advertisements and dubs have to all be done for a certain time. Timing is important, because everybody goes for a normal party, and everybody has been to a normal party, but not everybody has been to a pool party because not everyone in Jamaica has a pool. Not only that, but we've heightened the pool party experience by adding foam to the mix. Wi want them to get something out of this world," Goulbourne said.

And although the competition for patrons is intense, he believes partygoers will choose Atlantis because the pricing is reasonable - $800 presold and $1,200 at the gate. Atlantis is also a mixed liquor inclusive event and high-end liquor will be on sale as well.

"We giving them variety to kick off their summer. First, we give them a pool party, then we add the foam and get a winning combination, because that's something you don't see every day. So this summer, on July 10, if you're at home or wherever you are and you feel hot and miserable, Atlantis have the cure for that - a dip in the pool or if you waan just party and have fun," Goulbourne said.

Hyflex has done other events before, but according to Golbourne Atlantis is different because it can be a solution to one of the main problems of the summer period - the heat. He said that they have put several things in place to ensure the satisfaction and safety of patrons who attend the event and will monitor them closely as the party unfolds in the lost city of Atlantis on July 10.
