Manchester High hunt all-island Under-16 title

Rural Under-16 champions Manchester High will take on urban area counterparts Eltham High in a bid to gain the all-island honours when the play-off starts today on their school grounds in Mandeville.

The game will be a single-innings affair to be decided over two days.

The game was postponed from last week due to the heavy rains experienced across the island. The game should be an intriguing contest as the two have never met.

Two weeks ago, Manchester created history when they defeated traditional rural kingpins St Elizabeth Technical in Santa Cruz to win the Under-16 crown. It was their first-ever cricket title.

Eltham will be anxious to perform well as they have not won a cricket trophy in three years. In that period, it was their St Catherine parish-mates Innswood High who have emerged the top urban exponents.
