Jazz fans who can't get enough of Harold Davis's musical mastery, both as a pianist and vocalist, will have yet another chance to enjoy his performance, together with some of his musical friends today, as the 21st staging of the Jamaica Ocho Rios International Jazz Festival begins to wind down.

The event, billed 'Jazz Straight No Chasers' will take place at the Jamaica Palace Hotel in Portland beginning at 8 p.m.

Harold's professionalism and 'at ease' stage performances always help him deliver most tastefully. His prowess continues to mesmerise his audiences and possibly stems from his early exposure to the stage and the concept of entertainment and music as a way of life. This he owes to his parents, who have musical backgrounds and saw to his musical training at the tender age of six.

At the Royal School of Music, Davis learnt mastery of the classical piano and violin. He also studied contemporary and jazz piano at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts, where he also had voice training.

Studio work

Though the stage is seemingly his second home, Davis can also be found in studio, where he has worked with many different artistes doing musical arrangements, along with background music, using the keyboard and his vocals.

He has gone on to do more on the recording side of the business, recently releasing his first solo project Harold Arthur, which features his vocal and keyboard artistry. The album, while showcasing interestingly arranged covers, also features original music.

Other acts to add to the extraordinary evening of dazzling jazz include Jeff Williams and Friends and special guest artiste Peter Stoddard.

Ticket outlets are at the Errol Flynn Marina, Jamaica Palace Hotel, FX Traders, City Centre Plaza and Yosch Café at the Royal Mall-Fahmi Building.

Today, there will also be a concert to celebrate Jazz Week at the Two Seasons Hotel in Treasure Beach. Concert time is 8 p.m.

Jazz Week closes with a free public concert at the Turtle River Park tomorrow, starting at noon.
