Wray & Nephew team pool tourney
The second weekend of matches in the Jamaica Billiards Association, Wray & Nephew White Overproof Rum team tournament were played over June 11 and 12 across the island.
The two days saw a full slate of matches in both the rural and Corporate Area zones. The results of these matches are as follows:
Rural Zone: Palm Court from Negril defeated Gold Room 3-2 in Negril's West End, Montego Bay Proper 'A' clipped Club 300 'A' in Lucea, Hanover; Montego Bay Proper 'B' beat Club 300 'B' 4-1 in Lucea, Strawberry Sports Bar blanked Triple Diamond 5-0 in Old Harbour, Upper Level from Mandeville also drubbed Flankeys 5-0 in Mandeville, The Spot beat Spot One 3-2 after trailing 2-0 at Old Harbour Road, while Kendan from Montego Bay defeated Marshalls 4-1 in Savanna-la-mar.
Corporate Area Zone: Chelsea Seals clipped Gee Wee 3-2 at 5 Chelsea Avenue, Mystix Knights blanked Invaders 5-0 at Bigga Sports Bar, Papine Plaza; Chesea 'A' team beat Mystix Imports 4-1 at 5 Chelsea Avenue, and Bombay outclassed the RJR Group 5-0 at Bombay Sports Lounge, Hagley Park Road.
In a rescheduled match last Sunday, Wray & Nephew clipped RJR 3-2 at Hot Shots, Mystix Knights blanked Invaders 5-0 at Papine Plaza, while Invaders clipped Gee Wee 3-2 last week Tuesday at Invaders, Papine Plaza.
Rescheduled match for tomorrow: Montego Bay Proper 'A' vs Palm Court continuing with Montego Bay leading 1-0, this Group 'A' fixture is to be played at Montego Bay Proper, starting at 7:00 p.m.

Cement beat Gleaner in BH football feature
Former champions Carib Cement defeated The Gleaner 3-1 in their feature KSAFA/Western Sports Business House Football Division One match at Boys' Town last Saturday.
Gleaner, who are also former champions, were having their first match, while Carib Cement completed their third and are yet to lose.
Ryan Nelson opened the scoring for Carib Cement in the 22nd minute, but Fabian Swaby equalised for The Gleaner six minutes later to make it 1-1 at half-time. However, goals by Twain Wynter in the 63rd minute and Jermaine 'Fast Car' Rowe in time added on ensured a good win for Carib Cement, who have two wins and a draw so far.
In another Division One match last Saturday, NWC came from behind to clip the 2009 champions Scotiabank 2-1, thanks to a brace from Arnett Garden's Premier League player James Durrant in the 60th and 66th minutes. Donovan Hibbert netted for Scotiabank in the 26th minute to give his team a 1-0 lead at half-time, but this was wiped out by Durrant.
Gleaner rebounded from their recent loss to Carib Cement on Wednesday to beat NWC 1-0 at the NWC playing field, Mona. Durant Foster got the winner for The Gleaner in the 66th minute, while NWC's Kirk Porter missed a penalty earlier in the match.
In Division Two action, Jamaica National defeated NHT 3-1 at Barbican with goals from Delano Thorpe, Marlon Smith and Damion Anderson, ASC clipped JUTC 2-1, while Red Stripe and ISCF drew 1-1 at Tinson Pen.
The competition continues today with three Division One matches - Scotiabank vs Wray & Nephew at NWC playing field, Carib Cement vs defending champions Petrojam in the feature match at Bull Pen starting at 4 p.m. and Wisynco vs NMIA at Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex at 4 p.m.
Starliner, Lady Strikerson top in skittles
Action in the 2011 Wray & Nephew White Overproof Rum skittles competition moves into its second half tomorrow with Starliner and Mystix Lady Strikers leading their respective zones, after last Sunday's round of matches.
The competition continues tomorrow at Mystix Sports Bar, 783/4 Hagley Park Road, starting at 1:30 p.m. Nearly all the teams will be in action at Mystix in yet another Super Sunday fixture.
Last Sunday at Olympic Strikers Skittles Club, Olympic Gardens, Starliner defeated Dragon 6-4 to be sole leaders of Zone 'A' with 10 points from six matches, while Lady Strikers are atop Zone 'B' with eight points, following their 6-1 drubbing of Mister C at Olympic Strikers on Sunday.
Results of other matches played at Olympic last Sunday are as follows: Willies defeated home team Olympic Strikers 6-3, Portmore's The Dip clipped Mercury 6-5, Eagles defeated Waltham Strikers 6-2, while reigning Pattex Cup champions Mystix beat Rowe's Strikers 6-2.

Cup holders Bergerbeaten in KO domino
The 2011 Wray & Nephew Business House KO domino competition will have a new champion, as cup holders Berger were knocked out by The Gleaner in the opening round action on Friday, June 10, at the National Housing Trust's car park.
The Gleaner defeated Berger 75-62 to advance to the quarter-finals to be played on Friday, July 15 at a venue to be announced.
Results of other opening-round matches are as follows: Seprod defeated Courts 72-59, JUTC beat Norman Manley International Airport 75-52, Tastee stopped NHT 75-69, Kingston Wharves beat Pepsi 69-58, Jamaica Fire Brigade drubbed JPs 75-55, Wray & Nephew beat Brandy 75-69, National Baking Company upset Division I league champions DSc 67-61 and Jamaica Brandy stopped NCB 73-68.
Sporting Athletic set Clarendon U17 record
Sporting Athletic set several new scoring records in the Claro Clarendon Under-17 league when they annihilated Treadlight 13-0 last weekend. It was the highest margin of victory in the competition, while two players achieved personal milestones. Akeem Wright scored seven of those goals while Ricardo Smith netted six.
The big win also helped Sporting secure their berth in the quarter-finals as the top team in Zone 3 alongside York Town. Both finished the preliminary round on seven points.
Also last weekend, Woodhall defeated Rio 1-0 to top Zone One on the maximum nine points from three games. Despite the loss, Rio still made the cut to the quarter-finals.
Zone Two is still not decided with three teams still with a chance. After two games, Monymusk lead with four points followed by Jamalco on three. Coffals have one point but have played only one game.
The select Clarendon Under-15 team which participates in Zone 4, defeated Humble Lion 3-2 last weekend to book their place on six points. Two teams - Original Hazard (four points) and Four Paths (three) are fighting for the other spot. This weekend's schedule will decide the final quarter-final spots. The matches on tomorrow are: Four Paths vs Humble Lions, Monymusk vs Jamalco and New Bowens vs Coffals.
Clarendon Division One final today
Jamalco and Four Paths will meet in the final of the Claro-sponsored Clarendon Division One final today at the Wembley playfield.
Both had contrasting semi-final victories. Four Paths had to do it the hard way getting the better of surprise team Summerfield 4-3 on penalties after the two had battled to a 1-1 draw.
Jamalco achieved their final place in regulation time after outscoring Black Stars 4-3. Before today's grand final which starts at 3 p.m., the third place play-off between the losing semi-finalists will take place at 1 p.m.
Cobbla Church league
The New Testament Church of God-organised Cobbla Church league will resume tomorrow, following heavy rains which rocked the island for consecutive weekends. Clandon Strikers vs Gully Strikaz and Napoli against Spring Ground were the matches that should have been played.
The organisers will meet to decide the fate of those matches.
Tomorrow's schedule features the Zone One clash between Napoli and Spring Ground at 2 p.m. while at 4 p.m., Zone Two teams Church United and Lazio Strikers will meet.
Defending champions George North lead the early standings with six points, being the only team to win two matches.
McFarlane hits ton in Milo Cricket
Batsman Javon McFarlane scored the league's first century, 106, to pilot former champions Portsmouth to a 165-run victory over Cumberland in the opening round of the Milo-sponsored Portmore Under-15 Cricket League last Sunday. Andrew Thompson (36), and Bryan Mills (25) also got among the runs. In reply Cumberland were blown away for 84. Only Michael Brown (32) offered any resistance to the bowling of Portsmouth's pair of Trevor Johnson 4-18, and Ahmed Campbell 2-32.
At Bridgeport sports ground defending champs, Ken's Wildflower scored a big nine-wicket win over debutants Portmore Pines. Scores: Pines, 66 all out, Kishcon Givens, 16, Ken's legspinner George Walker bagged 5-12 off 6.1 overs. Ken's in their turn at batting, rushed to 68-1, with Davion Clarke topscoring with 24 not out and Romain Johnson 18 not out.
At Hamilton Gardens, the home team went down to Reid's Pen by six runs. Scores: Reid's Pen, 118 all out; Daniel Fraser 36, Joel Ewen 4-24, Nikoy Robert 2-32. Hamilton Gardens 112-9 (30 overs). Arune Haye 15, Keneil Holness 15.

Portmore test for Clifton
Defending champions Portmore United and Clifton will lock horns in a top-of-the table clash in the Colin Fagan-sponsored Portmore Under-15 Football League in the opening match of a double-header at Passagefort field tomorrow. Kick off time is 1 p.m. In the second match at the venue, an interesting bottom of the tables battle is at 3 p.m. between Garveymeade and Daytona. Both are without a point after two games. Another double-header is at Portsmouth, as Cumberland take on Westchester at 1 p.m.; while at 3 p.m. Wanderers tackle Portsmouth. Meanwhile, Portmore lead the league on goal difference after they hammered Garveymeade 8-0 last Sunday. It was Portmore's second win in as many matches and are now on six points. Clifton who edged Daytona 2-1 also have six points but have scored less goals. In other games, Portsmouth were thumped 3-0 by Westchester, and third-place Wanderers (four points), drew 0-0 Cumberland. Four games are on tomorrow.
Caribbean Classic win cash, trophies at awards ceremony
Eight-time champions Caribbean Classic shone brightly at the recent Jamaica Domino Federation (JDF)/Charley's JB Overproof Rum/Supreme Ventures Portmore/ St Catherine league awards presentations atop the roof of Ken's Wildflower Sports Bar, Restaurant and Lounge, Port Henderson Road, in St Catherine. Classic, who defeated rivals Eagle View 300-292 in the final, pocketed $130,000 and a trophy courtesy of marketing officer for Charley's JB Rum, Kevon Spence. Second-place Eagle View received $80,000, third-place Fort International got $50,000 and fourth-place Right Stuff copped $30,000. Speaking at the function, Spence said the competition was a big marketing tool for his product and he was pleased with the running of the tournament which kicked off December 2010.
Lester 'Ken's' Crooks, proprietor of Ken's Wildflower, also endorsed the product and thanked the rum company for coming on board. Gerald Stephens, president of the JDF, while giving an overview of the tournament congratulated runners-up Eagle View for their fighting spirit and many-time champions Classic for rising to the occasion in the final.
