And then she arrived, traditionally late like millions of brides before her, but a vision of loveliness in a Vera Wang gown, and smiling from ear to ear. The make-up is flawless, endless lashes with subtle but professionally applied eyeshadow. Her attentive matron of honour ensured every hair was in place and the train was positioned for a smooth glide down the aisle. The radiant bride, Dr Kareema Julee Mae Matthews, was escorted by her father, Horace Matthews, to meet her Dexter Huxtable-clad groom, Dr Daryl Anthony Daley.
But the journey to the historic University Chapel at the Mona campus of the University of the West Indies began over three years ago. As one close relative of the groom told Outlook, Kareema and Daryl met during residency programme and although she did not like him at first, sparks flew. And from the little we observed of her zestful personality during the ceremony, Daryl would not have been able to resist her charms for long. Kareema was one of the happiest brides we have ever seen. To say she enjoyed her wedding day is an understatement.
And all the elements were right. The day was picture perfect. At the chapel and Caymanas Golf Club where the reception was held, Tai Flora Luxe's Dr Paulette Tai Chun Hossman and team presented magnificent arrangements of hydrangea, rosebuds, Casablanca lilies and stock. The bouquets, corsages and boutonnières were as exquisite as they were flawless. The reception tables bore high and low arrangements that incorporated mirrors and candles and she stuck to the theme colours of pink and steel grey using taffeta for the table linen.

During the reception's cocktail hour, wedding planner Allison Dexter of Weddings by Almade opted for a poster collage of the couple for guests to sign instead of the usual guestbook. She also installed a mobile photo lab where guests could take pictures use the prints to create on-the-spot scrapbooks with messages for the newly-weds.
The menu, catered by the team at Caymanas Golf Club, included fresh garden salad with citrus dressing, chicken roulade stuffed with callalo and cream cheese, shrimp pasta, fish in lemon sauce, parsleyed potatoes and for dessert, sweet potato pudding and wedding cake.
