Water is defined by many as essential for living and, by extension, a source of life.

Fittingly, Jamaica's premier water themed event, The Water Party, has over the years done well to epitomise this at each staging, as it brings new life to patrons as soon as they enter the venue.

At the most recent Carnival weekend staging of The Water Party, hundreds of patrons were buzzing with excitement leading up to the event. On party day, it was much more of the same as it seemed they had not only turned up for the event, but had spread the word to as many as possible. What seemed to be thousands of patrons filled the Grenada Crescent Car Park in New Kingston.

According to Andrew Bellamy, promoter of The Water Party, with the overwhelming success of that staging, patrons can expect improvements to the already great entertainment package when the event returns on June 25 - but this time with a unique twist.

The Water Party, which many avid partygoers have come to love and enjoy, will be held on the white sands of the Sugarman's Beach in Portmore, a venue which goes hand in hand with its 'Bikini n Beach Edition' theme. Bellamy said, at the Carnival weekend staging patrons were ecstatic as streams of water gushed onto their heads while they danced to the latest hits in several music genres, and just the idea of reliving that experience will appeal to them. This time around, two water trucks will be deployed on the sands to help take patrons on their wet journey.

Free body painting will also be available to patrons.

Value for money

He added that maintaining the high standard which The Water Party has become known for is the ultimate aim, and as such, the organisers will stop at nothing to provide loyal patrons the best in entertainment value for their money. With the reasonable admission cost of $1,000 presold, $1,500 at the gate, and a 'ladies 2-4-1 special all night' set specifically with patrons in mind, they will be able to enjoy the peak of a beach-party experience from the afternoon hours of 4 p.m. to 12 a.m.

With Rum-Bar Rum the title sponsor, the nonstop flow of drink mixes will be one of the highlights of The Water Party, as it is a mixed-drink inclusive event.

Through the use of some of Jamaica's top disc jockeys, The Water Party will implement an innovative musical concept whereby each jock will be assigned a specific genre of music to deliver to patrons.

Renaissance will be doing remix, Code Red will take charge of dancehall, DJ Billy will provide high-energy of soca, DJ Narity will thump the bass of hip-hop and Richie Ras will churn out pop hits.

Tickets for The Water Party can be purchased at Genus Pharmacy in Portmore, Xtras in Mall Plaza and Manor Park Plaza, Avery's Beauty on Molynes Road, Ashli Bistro in New Kingston, Giscombe Sports in Half-Way Tree, Salon Splurt at UWI and from Rage, who can be contacted at 839-7150.
