Both the Pick-9 and Super-6s were caught at Caymanas Park on Wednesday, the Pick-9 starting anew with the guaranteed minimum of $1 million.

The well-supported 11-race programme will feature three trophy races, headed by the $1.1 million Viceroy Trophy grade-one feature over 1800 metres, the 3-y-o and up open-allowance race for the Caribbean Racing Confederation Trophy over 1100 metres, and the annual renewal of the Sports Journalists of Jamaica Trophy ($350,000-$300,000 claiming) over 1200 metres.

Significantly, the Caribbean Racing Confederation Trophy coincides with the mid-year meeting of the confederation in Ocho Rios from June 23-26. Delegates from five countries will visit Caymanas Park tomorrow.

The Pick-9 will embrace races three to 11, the first Super-6 from race two to second, the overlapping Super-6 from race six to 11. We look at the second Super-6 which gets under way with Division I of the 3-y-o maiden condition race to be contested by 14 starters over 1200 metres.

The horses to note are PRINCE CHAD, OUT FOR JUSTICE, ANDY CAPP, IAN'S GOLD and the one I like best, ACTUS REUS from the stables of leading trainer Anthony 'Baba' Nunes.

Although out for the first time since finishing fourth to NOTUS and HERMOSO AMIGO over the distance on February 16, ACTUS REUS has looked sharp at exercise, galloping five furlongs in a brisk 1:01.3 last Sunday morning. Coming from an in-form stable, ACTUS REUS, with title-chasing jockey Dick Cardenas aboard, gets the nod over OUT FOR JUSTICE and PRINCECHAD.

Race number seven for the Sports Journalists of Jamaica Trophy promises to be one of the most competitive on the card, with no fewer than six of the starters having good claims. They include in-form MEELO. KRYPTOGRAM, FREE FALL, recent winner SULAMANI and SHE'S MAGIC.

MEELO, the mount of champion jockey Omar Walker, went down fighting against NASATOL over 1100 metres recently, having the likes of then favourite KRYPTOGRAM, SHE'S MAGIC and FREE FALL behind in the process. He is tipped to go one better here, but SULAMANI, KRYPTOGRAM and SHE'S MAGIC should make it close.

Briefly, RHEA ON TOUR should finally open her account with the eighth race for maiden three-year-olds, while the last three races should be won by GALLAVANTER, DANCE SO SWEET and SEEK GOLD, all fit animals.
