Issue: Prime Minister's Paraguay trip
THE EDITOR, Sir:
In which other country in the world can a prime minister go off on a vacation with a contractor who received billions in contracts from his administration? I think none.
Truth be told, this is an indication of the disrespect with which politicians hold the rest of us. They don't give a damn what the rest of us think.
The minister of information, in his usual verbose and arrogant manner, would have us believe that the $730,000 was not a gift. It should be clear to him by this that the people don't believe a word he says.
What we want to make abundantly clear to him is that we want to see the account on which the cheque was drawn. We want to follow the lodgement which was made in order for the cheque to be drawn.
This should not be a problem for the prime minister, who is an expert at retrieving customers' account statements from the bank.
If the bag was taken to Jamaica, was approval granted for the importation of the dead birds into the island? Perhaps the proper authorities would like to comment.
