ASHE hosts summer camp
International performing arts group ASHE will host its first edutainment camp called Summer Swag and Celebrity Fiesta from July 4-29, at its new home at Youth Centre Jamaica, 8 Cargill Avenue, Kingston 10.
The camp, which runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily for ages four to 25, will challenge students to unearth their truest potential while interacting with celebrities in the areas of drama, dance, music, edutainment and drumming.
ASHE's managing director, Conroy Wilson, strongly believes participants will enjoy every moment of the camp, as it provides a friendly environment for strangers who, at the end of the camp, will eventually become one family.
"The concept is a youth-friendly space where young people can be empowered using the performing arts such as singing, dancing, drumming and acting. And we are partnering with some of our old members, who are now celebrities in their own right," he said.
The Summer Swag instructors and celebrities are ASHE members, past and present, who have benefitted from the training that the organisation provides.
The company has always been an active voice in the preservation of Jamaican heritage and the addressing of social ills through performing arts across Jamaica and the world.
Summer Swag and Celebrity Fiesta will be no different, as by the end of four weeks of long, intense and fun training, students are expected to feel empowered and having the tools to empower others.
Registration is now open. Registration costs $500 and, for the four weeks of Summer Swag, the cost is $11,000.
