ONLINE FEEDBACK
Responses on www.jamaica-gleaner.com to Herbert Thompson's resignation from NCU and the claims of a power struggle.
This is a nice plea for conciliation. SDAs are learning how to use the media to spin against errors.
Pity that the SDAs I know were not so charitable and supportive towards other denominations (or religions), when they had their scandals too. In particular, they heavily criticised the first, and perhaps the greatest, Christian church, namely, the ancient Roman Catholics.

I know you are well intentioned. However, a man has a right to defend himself from attacks and insinuations. If those who are above him will not stick up for him, then mustn't he stick up for himself? Anyway, my suggestion is that you should never swear blind for anyone.

Each faction within Christendom is positive. It is the true and rightful representative of God here on Earth. Adventists are being urged to wake up and do the work they are "called of God to do".
Perhaps the letter writer is unaware that even the Mormons, who once considered blacks as being created as the servant class even in heaven, also believe that they are called of God as "latter-day saints".
Each denomination looks down on the next and really believes everyone outside their faith is consigned to hell. And God is not the author of confusion!

I hope that all who post comments speak in a spirit of reconciliation! We have had enough rancour and righteous indignation. Let us all move forward. Christ will take care of the rest.

I wonder why Herbert Thompson does not go quietly into the night. This is really bad for the church. If he really loves the church, he would just go away, but because what he really loves is himself and power, he is going to try and take the church with him. Dr Thompson, shame on you.

As Seventh-day Adventists, why are we being caught up in politics? God has called us to be different and to be light bearers.
Dr Thompson, please remember that God placed you where you were, and if He's decided it's time for you to step down, do so with humility and selflessness.
