The party that has social media websites buzzing, Retweet, has announced that the planned treasure hunt for an iPad2 has been called off. Instead, the organisers will be putting it up for grabs at the event when it is held on July 9 at the Boardwalk Beach, Portmore, St Catherine. They cite a shortage of manpower to complete the treasure hunt in a way that will "please everyone, and not just people in Kingston. We have a huge following in Montego Bay, for example, and we are currently not able to include people outside of Kingston in a treasure hunt. We will certainly be looking to do it properly and in a more fulsome way when we have Retweet again".

social-media-related and interesting

Brandon Allwood, a promoter of Retweet, said that he was not sure what persons will have to do to win the iPad2, but assured that it would be something social-media-related and interesting. "Certainly, we can't just raffle it off. We will be doing something very relevant and directed to social-media activity. That is our goal, after all, for Jamaicans to become more and more involved in the space online that allows us to be social and allows us to be friends," he said.

The Apple iPad2 is one of the most sophisticated and sought-after devices in the world. With millions of units sold. It is said that Apple revolutionised the tablet PC industry with the gadget.

at their fingertips

"When we were thinking of a prize to offer, we knew that we had to give away something that allowed the winner to be even more involved in social media, something that would put the Internet and all its tools right at their fingertips and that's how we decided on the iPad2," Allwood shared.

"The only rules are get your ticket to Retweet when they go on sale this week, come out to Boardwalk Beach, listen to some great music, drink some rum and be active on social media," Allwood said.

Retweet is Jamaica's first public, social-media party and the drink inclusive event will run from 4 p.m. to midnight.
