Youngsters fly out for youth champs today

Jamaica's 20-member team to the IAAF World Youth Championships in Lille, France, is scheduled to start their journey to Europe this afternoon and is expected to touch down in France on Monday, two days before the start of the championships.

Team manager Trevor 'TC' Campbell reported yesterday afternoon that 'it's all systems go' for the youngsters ahead of their departure for participation in the July 6-10 championships.

"Everything is in place at this moment, all the plans are finalised and we are all just raring to go and looking forward to the championships," said Campbell.

"We are getting there, we are working well, team spirit is very high and everybody has been showing a willingness to work so I'm sure we will be all right," Campbell added.

The team will actually leave the island at 1:45 p.m. for St Marteen, where they will overnight before departing tomorrow for Amsterdam, in the Netherlands. The team will then continue on to France, where they will make their way to the northern city of Lille.
