Thanks to a 33-1 upset by OVERPRICED in the closing Alex's imports Dig-Out Handicap, the Pick-9 proved elusive at Caymanas Park on Wednesday with $1 million still in the kitty.

The Pick-9 will embrace races three to 11, the first Super-6 from one to six, the overlapping Super-6 from six to 11.

We look at the second Super-6 which commences with Division I of a $180,000 straight-five race to be contested by 13 starters.

The three that matter are the down-in-class ONLY BEGOTTEN SUN to be ridden by former champion Wesley Henry, the recent course winner BUNKER DUST and the consistent PEDRO BLUFF, who was beaten into second place by BUNKER DUST in the Drumbeat Trophy over the course on June 22.

BUNKER DUST, with apprentice Robert Hallendeen aboard, is 2.0kg worse off with the Omar Walker-ridden PEDRO BLUFF and it promises to be close between them. Significant, however, is the fact that ONLY BEGOTTEN SUN takes a big step down the claiming ladder - moving from claiming $500,000 when last raced on June 25 to a lowly $180,000 tag.

Although the drop is suspect, ONLY BEGOTTEN SUN would only need to be 80 per cent himself to win at this level. However, I have a gut feeling that PEDRO BLUFF, who truly relishes the straight, will rebound with his fifth win of the season.

Race number seven for overnight allowance horses over 1200 metres has attracted eight starters, and indications are it will resolve itself into a straight fight between MINISTEROFJUSTICE and NEW KINGSTON, both of whom are basically better than this level. MINISTEROFJUSTICE beat all barring HERROYALHIGHNESS in a fast-run 1300-metre race on June 11, and now eased a bit in the weights, is preferred to NEW KINGSTON.

DELICIOSA, who went under in a three-way photo finish to LADY JAGRATI over 1200 metres on June 11, gets the nod over WAGON WHEEL and DEFENDIT in the knotty-looking eighth race over 1100 metres, while IAN'S GOLD gets the ideal trip in the ninth (1800 metres) and should lead home PRIVATE CARD, GOLD RUNNER and MISS MAY.

Then. take the imported colt SIR VON to outfinish another recent winner, DANCE SO SWEET, and reigning champion sprinter SAINT CECELIA in the 10th, the $1.1 million Reggae Trophy over the straight for grade one horses, before closing with down-in-class IT IS WRITTEN in the nightpan.
