Top-flight western Jamaica sports personality, Steve Anthony Bucknor, OJ, who had the unique distinction of being a FIFA referee and a first-class cricket umpire at the same time, officiated in both sporting disciplines at the World Cup level?

Bucknor, a former outstanding student athlete at his alma mater, Cornwall College, where he represented the school in football, cricket and athletics, became a FIFA referee in 1985 and a Test umpire in 1989. As a FIFA referee, he officiated in the 1988 World Cup qualifier between El Salvador and the Netherlands Antilles. As a first-class cricket umpire, he officiated in 44 World Cup matches including a record five finals.
