Red Stripe Bold's Reggae Sumfest page gains 5,000 fans in three days

Diamond sponsor of Reggae Sumfest, Red Stripe Bold, launched a Facebook competition to promote its sponsorship of the annual reggae festival, which resulted in its page, www.facebook.com/redstripebold, growing by 5,000 fans in just three days.

The breakthrough promotion which gives fans incentives, providing bigger prizes as the fan count grows, blew up on the weekend as Red Stripe Bold rewarded its digital community with tickets to the Sky Lounge, the Air Bridge and the Swag Deck. All three areas are special-consumer areas which will offer a unique experience to enjoy the live performances at Catherine Hall from July 21-23.

Other prizes included iPods, tickets to Red Stripe Bold Absinthe, cinema tickets to see Transformers 3 and gift vouchers to Shimmer.

"Our consumers have always been at the core of what we do, but we really wanted to provide a 'standout' experience at Reggae Sumfest this year. All the elements in place at the venue this year are geared towards heightening the consumer experience at the festival and we thought one great way to celebrate the event with our consumers was to incentivise our Facebook fans," said Red Stripe's Safia Cooper.

"Over the weekend, the more fans we gained, the more prizes we gave away. As the Bold rises ... the bigger the prizes."

Red Stripe first sponsored Reggae Sumfest in 1996 and has since been one of the chief sponsors of 'The Greatest Reggae Show on Earth'.
