THE KINGSTON Restoration Company (KRC) has commenced a special summer-school programme, which will begin to prepare at least 226 inner-city students for the March 2012 Grade Six Achievement Test.

The programme got under way on July 4 and will continue up to July 28.

Charmaine Muirhead, KRC's project manager, told The Gleaner yesterday that the children were being tutored by professional teachers.

She said the students were being exposed to the GSAT curriculum, which includes communication tasks, math, social studies, science, and language arts.

As part of the summer programme, the children are taken on field trips to various locations.

The students are drawn from a number of communities in west Kingston and South St Andrew.

"The parental groups within these communities played an integral role in the selection process," said Muirhead.
