Angels 'A' eye redemption

Former parish champions Angels 'A', who loss their opening Zone B fixture against Pacers 'A' last weekend, will be seeking a quick rebound when they battle Starlight 'A' in the feature game of tomorrow's Hunger Busta/Impact Auto St James Netball Association Senior League double-header at the Montego Bay Cricket Club Courts.

The game, which is slated for 5 p.m., will be preceded by the 3:30 p.m. Zone A curtail-raiser between Angels 'B' and Starlight Juniors. Both teams are coming off embarrassing defeats in their opening games.

In going down to defeat against Pacers 'A', Angels 'A' won the first and third quarters by 12-11 and 10-4 margins but lost the second and fourth quarters 11-7 and 14-5. Samantha Dennison, who got a game-high 30 goals for Pacers 'A', was the chief architect of her team's win. Nicole Fletcher got 28 goals for Angels 'A'.

LONG SEASON

"It is going to be a very long season and this is only our first game, ,so we will have time to bounce back," said Angels' star centre, the flamboyant Doneisha Love. "We just have to go back to the drawing board and get our game together."

For tomorrow's game, Angels 'A' will be hoping that Love, Fletcher, Omeisha Peterkin and Chavelle Chin all report in top form in a bid to nullify the power of Starlight's Kelli-Ann Lawrence and Shanice Howell.

In the curtain-raiser, Angels 'B' and Starlight Juniors, who were both woefully outclassed by Pacers Juvenile and Blazers 'A' in their opening games, should be anxious to rebound at the expense of each other.

In their defeat against Pacers Juveniles, the clearly outclassed Angels 'B' lost all four quarters by 12-8, 12-4, 13-5 and 12-4 margins in going down 49-21. Georgia Reid, with 33 goals, did the damage for Juveniles, against the hapless Angels 'B' defence.

In their loss to Twelve Stars, the Starlight 'A' team, which showed some amount of fight, lost three of the quarters by 12-3, 14-6 and 12-3 margins and drew the other 9-9.

The eight-team competition, which is the symbol of netball supremacy in St James, is zoned as follows: Zone A - Crystal, Blazers, Juveniles, Angels 'B' and Starlight Juniors. Zone B - Twelve Stars, Sting, Angels 'A', Pacers 'A' and Starlight 'A'.
