Suga Roy, Conrad Crystal pay tribute
... Luciano, Fantan Mojah join duo for Gregory Isaacs remakes
The veteran duo Suga Roy and Conrad Crystal will blow up the summer with their brand new 18-track album, Universal Tribute to Gregory Isaacs, a fitting tribute to one of reggae's greatest icons, who passed away in the prime of his career at age 59, last October.
The energetic force of Suga Roy and Conrad Crystal, who have been impacting the international reggae scene for years with their unmistakable vocals, gives a unique dimension to some of Isaacs' timeless pieces.
The album, which also features Luciano and Fantan Mojah, includes remakes of favourites like Night Nurse, All I Have Is Love, Universal, Tune In, Hard Drugs and Border, plus 12 other classics.
"I give thanks for the inspiration to do this album," said Suga Roy.
"I have always respected Gregory as an icon in reggae music. He was a great singer and songwriter in culture and lovers rock. He was one of my idols from a youth growing up."
Suga Roy's love for Gregory's music was so great that in 2004 he teamed up with Conrad Crystal to do the cover of Love Overdue, which helped to launch the duo on the international scene.
The singer got a rare chance to work with Isaacs in 2006 on a remake of the single Soon Forward.
"It was a great experience for me to work with him as one of the great living icons at that time," said Suga Roy.
Exceptional artistes
Consistent hit makers, Suga Roy and Conrad Crystal have left an indelible mark and are indeed two exceptional artistes who strategically unify their voices in their message-filled songs geared towards past, present and future generations.
The duo has been able to bridge those gaps in generation, as they embark on their mission to spread reggae's powerful message.
Universal Tribute to Gregory Isaacs is produced by Leroy 'Suga Roy' Moore for Fire Ball Records label.
The album is available on iTunes and in stores worldwide.
