Go green with Muffetta's Natural

WITH THE world going green, Jamaica-born Muffetta Kruger has come up with her own line of eco-friendly household cleaning products called Muffetta's Natural.
Developed and produced in Jamaica, the products are made from herbs such as rosemary, thyme, lemon grass and sage, which are pleasing to the nostrils and soft on the hands. Plus, the herbs provide a healthier and environmentally friendlier alternative to other harsh household cleansers. The line includes an all-purpose cleaner with rosemary and sage or lemongrass, a glass cleaner with lemon, a kitchen-and-bath powder scrub with orange, a disinfectant cleaner with thyme and mint, a natural garden spray, a natural vegetable-and-fruit wash, and an insect spray; all made from biodegradable and natural ingredients.
Kruger, who lives in the United States, told Food that she will be launching the product line at the Denbigh Agricultural and Industrial Show to be held from July 30 to August 1. Launching her products in her homeland will not just provide Jamaicans with an eco-friendly product, but also job opportunities.
Kruger's passion
The businesswoman explained that she began Muffetta's Natural because she always liked things made of natural elements. She started the company in April 2003, but said her love for natural products began when she was a child growing up in Jamaica. Plus, her mother was a big believer in natural herbs and used them to cook and clean, and for health purposes. Kruger's passion flourished.
Kruger also noted that, 15 years ago, she passed out from using bleach and realised how much she hated smelling anything that had such strong chemicals in it.
"Therefore, I began to do some more research about natural cleaning and started making some things to use, using items such as baking soda, vinegar and herbs for cleaning," she said.
Her aim is to provide effective, herbal cleaning products to households and businesses. She believes that using cleaning products should be a safe, fragrant and a worry-free experience, not a toxic chore filled with harsh ammonia, strong irritants or petroleum-based chemicals.
