Aidonia signs with Corey Todd

Deejay Aidonia has signed a management as well as an endorsement contract with American businessman Corey Todd. Todd, who is a former business partner of Vybz Kartel, said that Aidonia will play a key role in the marketing and promotion of two new products which will hit the marketplace in the next six months.

"We're forming a business and musical organisation with Beenie Man, Aidonia and Jahvinci, with Notnice and Askel as the in-house producers, and we're gonna lock down Jamaica," Todd said in a release. "Aidonia is one of the top young talents in Jamaica with a strong underground following, and we believe that we can get him to be the next superstar emerging out of Jamaica. We have two new products, not just rum, that will be hitting the marketplace soon and Aidonia is going to play a key role in marketing and endorsing these products. I will also assume management duties of Aidonia and Lav will remain as his road manager."

Todd already manages Jahvinci, a former member of Vybz Kartel's Portmore Empire.

Posthumous introduction by J.O.E.

Equiknoxx music recently released Introduce Myself from late singer J.O.E. According to a representative from Equiknoxx J.O.E is an acronym meaning Jah Ova Evil, which is a philosophy embodied by the artiste.

Introduce Myself features two talented and seasoned members of the music industry, Ky-Mani Marley and Krayzie Bone of the group Bone Thugs n' Harmony. The plot of the song is one that everyone can relate to - a man or woman sees a member of the opposite sex who is so stunning and captivating that they have to go over and introduce themselves.

Ky-Mani starts off the track with a playful yet sensual invitation to 'exchange words for a minute' which then leads into J.O.E's first verse. His smooth and melodic vocals flow perfectly into the trademark fluid, fast-paced delivery of Krayzie Bone. Ky-Mani Marley then puts the icing on top of an already sweet concoction.

Ky-Mani, Protoje 'Soldier' on

As Rasta Love continues to penetrate reggae markets across the world, Ky-Mani Marley and Protoje have teamed up once again. The new single is called Rub-A-Dub Soldier, produced by ace producer, Don Corleon, and also features Da Professor, a talented singer and songwriter who frequently collaborates with Corleon.

Although it was originally intended for Protoje's second studio album, which will not be released for at least another year, it was decided that the track would appear on Marley's upcoming album.

"It's great working with Ky-Mani. He is a real humble individual," said Protoje. "As good a response that Rasta Love has been getting, Rub-A-Dub Soldier is the sound that I prefer." Rub-A-Dub Soldier is now available on iTunes, where fans can also purchase the Rasta Love single as well as Protoje's entire album, The Seven Year Itch.

Chris Martin for MoBay Jerk Festival

The Gleaner-sponsored MoBay Jerk Festival is slated to stimulate the entertainment appetites of patrons in western Jamaica, with the help of Chris Martin and the newly crowned Magnum King Hurricane, at the Catherine Hall Entertainment Centre on Monday, August 1.

"This is our second staging of MoBay Jerk Festival and last year, we had I-Octane and that was amazing. So, this year, we wanted to have Chris Martin because Montego Bay loves him and we are grateful for the opportunity to have him as part of the line-up, Kim Lindo of the organising team said.

She further added that with the immense popularity of the 'Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall' contestants they had to include this year's winner Hurricane and finalists Specialist and Yabalisious, along with the popular Tanto Blacks.

Operating under the theme 'Bring Back the Culture', the MoBay Jerk Festival will see elements of cultural traditions such as Jonkonno, drumming and dances that are reminiscent of 'old time Jamaica'. The day-and-night family event will also see fast-rising dancehall star T'Nez performing in addition to Nazine and gospel artistes Omari and Jabez.

Montego Bay's own Quata Blann is set to make an appearance at the event and 'Dancin' Dynamites' Target Dancers are also booked to appear at the festival.
