From Negril to Kingston, it's non-stop partying!

Tuesdaytalk

Do we really need those horses?

Some people are asking what is the value of maintaining the Mounted Troops branch of the Jamaica Constabulary Force. How does this division contribute to solving crime or protecting the people of this country is a very pertinent question. The National Security Ministry should recognise that there is a concern out there and prepare an appropriate response.

The makings of a Police State

Persons travelling to the Norman Manley Int'l Airport recently were taken aback when they were stopped by a contingent of police including their canine companion. It was labelled a random check. What really annoyed people was the fact that luggage had to be taken out of vehicles so they could be sniffed. Guess that's one less dog to be assigned airport duties. This operation left a bad taste in the mouth with some asking whether we are now a police state.

The Air Jamaica misadventure

Seems the Air Jamaica/Virgin Atlantic deal in which the lucrative Heathrow slot was sold out could turn into quite a misadventure. The first sign of sorrow was that the convenient Heathrow slot in the heart of London was never used to service the Jamaican market. Now there are indications that Virgin will no longer be calling on Kingston. So will the new Air Jamaica/Caribbean Airlines be able to reclaim the Heathrow slot? Shouldn't the OCG be even a little interested in the details of this contract?

The sins of the father

Those who know the history say it's a case of the sins of the father visiting the children. Daddy was well known as a drug dealer and thug and the largess he left for his son was a decent one. Now the son is acting like he owns the Rock, and he is not even a citizen!
