Delight day at Brighton

Today's racing takes place at Lingfield, Brighton, Worcester and Newmarket in the evening.

There is also simulcast racing from Finger Lakes, Monmouth Park and Saratoga in upstate New York.

It was recently announced at the big Saratoga meet, which ends on September 5, that the jockeys' title for the meet will be named in honour of the American Hall of Fame jockey Angel Cordero Jr.

One of the most decorated jockeys of all time, Cordero, who retired in 1992 with 7,057 career wins, currently serves as agent for John Velazquez, who was Saratoga's top rider in 2010 with 57 winners.

Impressive victory

Meanwhile, recent news coming out of Britain is that the brilliant 3-y-o colt, FRANKEL, extended his unbeaten run to eight with an impressive victory in the Sussex Stakes over a mile at Goodwood last week. Ridden as usual by Tom Queally for trainer Henry Cecil, FRANKEL dismissed the challenge of highly fancied CANFORD CLIFFS two furlongs out to win by five lengths in one of the most eagerly anticipated clashes in English racing.

Today at Brighton in the 16th race, we like the look of 7-4 chance ELVIRA DELIGHT with Jimmy Fortune aboard.
