Motorcyclists to turn on the heat at Dover

He has been an aggressive competitor for more than half of his life, and tomorrow, Stefan Chin intends to give his rivals a lesson in circuit bike racing at the 'Independence of Speed' race meet, which will be held at the Dover Raceway, St Ann.

Another massive crowd is expected to support the 15-race programme, which will be headlined by the Caribbean's top drivers David Summerbell, Peter Rae, Doug Gore and Chris Campbell."Everybody is going for the ultimate, which is to win and I am looking forward to it," said the 34- year-old Chin, who is the proud father of a one-year-old daughter.

Undoubtedly the crowd favourite, the Portland-based motorcyclist will be renewing rivalry with Dover veterans Adrian Blake, Dennis Chin-Quee and Harlequin Quin Rodney. According to Chin, Blake and Rodney are fast starters and all he wants is just to start in the front row.

"These days everybody is getting faster making it difficult to close the margin, but it promises to be a good race," said Chin, who is equipped with a CBR 600 motorcycle.

At the previous meet held in May, Chin won one of the three Caribbean Motor Racing Championship (CMRC) events.

"Myself and Stephen Viera of Guyana are leading on points in the Caribbean Championship. I will be using this meet as part of my preparation for the second leg of the CMRC, which will be held in Barbados later this month," commented Chin.

Rated as one of the most senior competitors, Adrian Blake stressed that despite the limited time to practice, he believes there will be a competitive field.

"I am looking forward to it," said Chin.

Other riders expected to do well at tomorrow's race meet are Seymour McDonald and Jason Flynn.
