Gayle to lead WIPA team in charity event

Estranged West Indies opener Chris Gayle will lead a WIPA XI against Trinidad and Tobago, in a Twenty20 affair that will highlight the regional players' association's annual Balls of Fire event next month.
Gayle, one of the hottest commodities in international cricket, was snubbed by West Indies selectors for the recent Test and one-day international series against India.
In addition to the giant left-hander, the WIPA XI is expected to comprise several Windies stars.
T&T skipper Daren Ganga said the match would be a crucial one for his side as they continue to prepare for the Champions League Twenty20.
"This will be our last practice match before we go off to India for the Champions League play-offs," Ganga said.
The T20 will be played at Queen's Park Oval on September 3, along with a football match between a WIPA side and the 2006 Trinidad and Tobago national side.
Brent Sancho, Cyd Gray, Aurtis Whitley, Kelvin Jack and Stern John, all of whom were members of the historic side that qualified for the World Cup in Germany, are expected to line up.
