Under-15 final on at Sabina
St Andrew and Westmoreland will today square off in the final of the annual Kingston Wharves Under-15 competition at Sabina Park, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
The competition, which will culminate with a training camp for the top 30 players between August 19 and 22, also at Sabina Park, will see both teams aiming to win the national title for the first time. In previous years, the competition was between counties.
Expected to lead the way for St Andrew are batsmen Jason Tapper and Orande Pearson, who made 55 and 11 respectively in their semi-final encounter with the previously unbeaten St Catherine in the semi-finals at the Elletson Road Police Station Sports Club.
Bowlers Saad Ahmed, who bagged three for 14 and Atishai Mansingh, who claimed two for 13 in the semi-finals, are also expected to play pivotal roles for the boys from the capital city.
Westmoreland, on the other hand, who got the better of St Ann in the other semi-final, will look to bowlers, captain Michael Frew, Ryan Burnett, and batsmen Okeeno Farquharson and Kevin Samuels.
Frew took three for 29, Burnett four for 32 and Samuels two for 29, while Farquharson made 35 not out in their semi-final clash against St Ann at the Ultimate Cricket Ground.
