Elgin Town in last eight

Hanover's champions, Elgin Town CC, joined early qualifiers Broughton CC as the two quarter-final qualifiers from Group C of the 2011 Social Development Commission (SDC) Twenty20 Cricket Competition when they carved out a three-wicket win over their Trelawny counterparts Allsides, in Sunday's final-round fixture at Little London in Westmoreland.
In the second game of the day's double-header, Broughton made it three wins from three starts with a big ten-wicket win over St James' champions Farm Heights. It was Farm Heights' third consecutive defeat since advancing from the competition's parish phase.
Elgin Town team, who entered their game in joint second place with Allsides, won the toss and invited their opponents to bat. Allsides turned in a dismal batting display as they were brushed aside for a mere 71 in 19.5 overs.
Rupert Green top scorer with 22 and Garth Powell with 13 were the only Allsides batsmen to enter double figures. Romaine Grant, two for 11 off four overs, Edgar Plant, two for 12 off four overs and Christopher Watson, two for six, did the damage for Elgin Town.
Struggle to win
In their turn at bat, Elgin Town struggled but managed to achieve victory at 76 for seven wickets off 16.5 overs. Shion McFarlane top scored with 20 while Carlington McFarlane chipped in with an unbeaten 14.
Skipper Oral Rankine, with two wickets for 19 off four overs and Hopeton Bowen, two for nine off three overs, were the best bowlers for Allsides.
In the second game, the all-conquering Paul Palmer Jr-led Broughton, reigning Westmoreland champions, invited the hapless Farm Heights to bat and skittled them out for 69 in 14 overs.
Tyrone Johnson, 13, and Dalton James, 11, were the only batsmen to reach double figures. Veteran Cleveland Davidson, three for 15 off four overs and Prince Daley, two for 16, were the main destroyers for Broughton.
Broughton rushed to 72 without loss off seven overs to secure victory. Andre Andrews with an unbeaten 35 and Myron Wilson, 22 not out got the runs.
