Tropical Battery aims to boost engines

Tropical Battery Company Ltd, distributor of automotive consumer products and batteries in Jamaica, has introduced an array of high-performance engine oils to the local market. According to Neil Crum-Ewing, managing director of Tropical Battery, the products are expected to boost the performance of each vehicle.
"What most people don't realise is that up to 75 per cent of the wear of a motor vehicle engine happens during the warming up period. So a motorist needs to ensure that his engine is protected, and for that we will have the Castrol GTX with Tri-Shield Technology, Castrol Magna Tec and Castrol EDGE," said Crum-Ewing.
He explained that the new Castrol GTX with Tri-Shield Technology offers superior deposit protection for the motor engine.
"It's called Tri-Shield because of the three functions it performs - attracting, capturing and dispersing of particles that can build up in the engine. This technology prevents small particles from becoming bigger ones, thereby causing major engine damage," said Crum-Ewing.
According to the managing director, the Castrol GTX Tri-shield offers ultra-low friction, which contributes to improved gas-mileage and maximum protection against viscosity and thermal breakdown.
On the other hand, the Castrol Magna Tec replaces Castrol Syntec Blend.
"Castrol Magna Tec is a step up from the Castrol GTX with Tri-shield Technology," said Crum-Ewing. "Magna Tec has all the technology of the GTX, but with two additional advantages - the semi-synthetic oil and intelligent molecules which are the adhesives in the oil," he said.
The Castrol EDGE replaces Syntec and has been approved by most car manufacturers, including Audi, BMW, Skoda, Honda and Toyota.
According to Crum-Ewing, it boasts fully advanced synthetic motor oil, guaranteed drain-interval protection and an advanced formula, which provides for performance and protection against some of the most extreme conditions, such as towing, hauling and some of the most gruelling traffic moments.
