Jada and Will break up?

• Media picks up on a story that the Smiths have separated

The Miami Herald has picked up on a story that the 13-year marriage of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith is on the rocks.

According to the newspaper, the information comes from In Touch Weekly that the two are getting separated.

Since then TMZ.com and Billboard.com have both picked up on the story but no real information has been forthcoming.

All media have carried a quote from Jada Pinkett-Smith's representative, saying she knows nothing about the issue.

"I know nothing about this ... Lord. I'm going back to bed," said Karynne Tencer to a reporter from TMZ.com

There has been no reason given for the separation, if there has been one.

The couple are on the cover of September's Architectural Digest appearing content.

Divorce not an option

Will, 42, and Jada, 39, have two famous children together - Karate Kid star Jaden and Willow, who wants to be a singer like her mother. Jada is in the rock band called Wicked Wisdom (under the name Jada Koren).

Smith, who has another son, Trey, from a previous marriage (he divorced former fashion design student Sheree Zampino in 1995 after three years together), has said breaking up their little unit would not be for them.

"What I found is divorce just can't be an option," he told Ellen Degeneres in 2008. "It's merely that simple. And I think that's the problem with LA. There are so many options. So a huge part of the success for Jada and I is that we just removed the other options."

The couple met in 1990 when Pinkett-Smith auditioned to be Will's girlfriend on The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. She didn't get the part, but they became friends and eventually more, marrying on New Year's Eve 1997.
