Henry banned for five racedays

Former champion jockey Wesley 'Callaloo' Henry was slapped with a five-day suspension and $10,0000 fine by the stewards for his failure to ride DONTSAYAWORD on its merit in the third race at Caymanas Park on Monday, August 1 (Emancipation Day).

DONTSAYAWORD was a fast-finishing second to MIKENIFICENT over 1820 metres in the race in question. But the stewards, after viewing the patrol film of the race, were not satisfied with the manner in which the horse was ridden in accordance with Rule 200.

At the same hearing, Henry was cautioned by the stewards for careless riding aboard LADY JAGRATI in the fourth race on August 10, his mount causing interference to SHE SELL OFF approaching the furlong pole.

Interference

Apprentice Fabion Jones, who rode RHINESTONE COWBOY in the ninth race on Wednesday, August 17, was stood down for two racedays for the interference caused to SIR SOUTH and NOTUS in the vicinity of the 700-metre point. His suspension commences tomorrow.

Jockey Robert Stewart, who rode ENERGETIC EMILY in the sixth race on August 13, picked up a one-day suspension for the interference caused to VANA PROSPECT in the vicinity of the half-mile. His suspension embraces tomorrow's meet.

Jockey Elvis Murray, who rode TIME OF STORM in the second race on August 17, was fined $10,000 for his failure to persevere with his mount in the final 400 metres.

Jockey Paul Francis, who rode the favourite MOLTEN KING in the second race on August 17, was summoned by the stewards to explain the riding of his mount. While his explanation was accepted, he was warned to report any problem he experienced to the stewards and commission's veterinarian immediately after he returns to the parade ring.
