Leading jockey Ellis banned for two days
Leading jockey Shane Ellis, who rode three winners on Wednesday, was slapped with a two-day suspension by the stewards for improper riding at Caymanas Park recently.
Ellis was penalised by the stewards at Winchester Road on Tuesday for careless riding aboard the winning horse JET SETTER in the eighth race on Wednesday, August 17, his mount causing interference to MEA CULPA and RED FLAG in the vicinity of the half-mile. His suspension takes effect next Wednesday, September 7.
At the same hearing, Ellis was severely cautioned for his ride aboard DIABOLICAL KID in the eighth race on Saturday, August 13, causing interference to SI PUEDO in the vicinity of the 900-metre point.
He also had his explanation accepted for his ride aboard CASSANOVA BOY in last Saturday's Seek Exercise Book Trophy race, having caused interference to MACHISMO, REGAL SENSATION and NEW KINGSTON shortly after the start.
Interference
Meanwhile, jockey Ameth Robles, who rode BLACKIE DAVIS in the fourth race on Wednesday, August 17, was severely cautioned for the interference caused to LADY JAGRATI in the vicinity of the 200-metre point.
Jockey Devon A. Thomas, who rode KISSING CHRISSY in the 11th race on August 20, was suspended for one raceday for interfering with IT IS WRITTEN in the final 200 metres. His suspension takes effect next Wednesday.
