Damned if you do!

1. It's a case of damned if you do and damned if you don't, for some, as after a number of customers took the company's advice and instituted a number of conservation measures that eventually resulted in a drop in electricity consumption, technicians from the light and power company recently turned up at their residences to audit their accounts, ostensibly to ensure they are not stealing electricity!

Who should pay?

2. Some observers are busy watching keenly to see if the Fund will be used to offset the bills incurred. Story is he incurred a massive bill in his capacity as an entrepreneur, and when called upon to make good his commitment he declared he has no intentions of paying up, and has gone as far as to say the "government should pay". Needless to say, for some the question uppermost in their minds is: "Is this the kind of individual they want as their representative?"

False support

3. Story is the publicity-hungry one is busy doing the rounds asking 'friends' and officials to host farewell functions in his honour! Word is he is determined to set some kind of a record, as the number of parties is supposed to indicate how well received he was, when the truth is, everyone is looking forward to his departure!

Not moving on

4. For many, the story of sugar being scarce and being rationed is very disturbing, as they say it reminds them of the bad old days of the 1970s. And this they find unpalatable, as they equate this as fast-forwarding backwards!

Work goes on!

5. Stories are doing the rounds of clandestine visits to the official residence by some females in high places and of pickups and drop-offs by security officers, despite the best efforts by the spouse to police the comings and goings!

What's this about?

6. Many are questioning if a recently announced decision was tied to a massive donation.

Not progressive!

7. For many who have issues of trust with the current administration, "The Progressive Agenda" is not enough. They are asking for a more detailed and comprehensive outline of the PNP's plan to transform the society to a "Progressive Country" in which public officials are accountable and cronyism does not replace cronyism!
