Two 'Levels of Daring' for Outrage

The long-standing party Outrage, staged at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona campus, is known to be a high-energy short shorts-themed party which attracts a huge female audience. At this particular event, ladies are known to exercise their skills to see how daring they can be on the dance floor and in their dress code - shorts, in particular.
Promoter Miguel 'GrammaZone' Reid plans to outdo all previous efforts by hosts Taylor Hall to make Outrage 2011 the most memorable ever. "This year we will overdo it literally. Taylor Hall has always found unconventional ways to make our parties stand out, and this time we are way above everybody's head," he said.
According to Reid, this year the Students Union will be transformed into two worlds. "The theme is 'Levels of Daring' and this will be reflected in two levels of dance floors, the uptown and the downtown experience," he said.
The 'One Link' promoter says that each dance floor will be decorated in keeping with the concept, along with the accompanying music to give the intended experience. "One of the dance floors will play hardcore dancehall songs reflecting true dancehall glory, and the other will be fitted with couches, courtesy of Caribbean Sofa, and will have dancing girls and different kinds of music, a club vibe," he said.
The promoter says that the concept of two dance floors with separate DJs will be a new gift to the campus partygoers, and they will get entry to both floors with one pass. "We will have music by Renaissance, which will be split into two. Disc jockeys who will play on the night are Arif Cooper, ZJ Johnny Cool, DJ Boom Boom and Tony Matterhorn. That's four top-notch DJs with different styles and patrons get admission to both floors. That's unheard of in most parties," he said.
Reid says that there will be giveaways leading up to the event, and on the night of the party. "We are getting a good response on the social networks and we have a Short Shorts competition on Facebook where ladies can take pictures of themselves wearing shorts and post them on the Outrage Facebook page. The girl that gets the most likes will win four passes. Plus, on the night of the event, we will give away BlackBerry phones and gift baskets from our sponsors," he said.
Patrons who turn out early will also get free entertainment from professional motorcycle riders, who will be at the Students Union at 10 p.m., performing stunts and giving the 'shorts and bike-back' experience. Reid added that an ambulance with required medical personnel will be present at the event, as well as campus security and police personnel.
"Don't forget to think responsibly and drink responsibly and detox will be provided by Tetley Tea," he said.
Ladies 2-4-1 before 11 p.m. carries a cost of $800 and all patrons, single or pairs, coming to Outrage after 11 p.m. will have to pay $700. The Red Stripe- and Digicel-sponsored event is to be held on Friday, September 16.
