Appleton Estate has been nominated for the Distiller of the Year award as part of Wine Enthusiast Magazine's 2011 Star Awards.

The annual Wine Enthusiast Star Awards honours outstanding achievement in the wine and spirit industry in a number of categories, including Person of the Year, Winemaker of the Year, Restaurateur of the Year, Distiller of the Year and Mixologist of the Year.

Paul Henriques, managing director of J. Wray & Nephew Limited (owners of the Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum brand), noted that the company was honoured to be recognised by Wine Enthusiast. "To be nominated for this award by Wine Enthusiast Magazine is a great honour, and we are very proud to be recognised by such a prestigious publication for continually producing rum and spirits of the highest quality."

In announcing the nominations, the magazine noted about Appleton Estate: "For over 260 years, Appleton Estate has forged a reputation for its range of Jamaican aged rum, distilled from estate-grown sugar cane. The distiller has also benefited for its pioneering support of the mixology community."

Wine Enthusiast Magazine is the world's largest periodical devoted exclusively to wine and spirits, and its reviews of wine and spirits are among the most respected in the industry.

The winners will be announced in their December 15 issue and the awards will be presented in New York City in January 2012.
