Ramdin recalled?

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC):

Trinidadian Denesh Ramdin has gained a recall to the West Indies side for the Test and one-day tours of Bangladesh.

CMC Sports understands that the 26-year-old wicketkeeper will be part of the squad for the October 7 to November 3 Asian tour, expected to be announced later this week.

Ramdin has not played for West Indies for over a year after being axed for poor form. He was also ignored for a retainer contract.

A right-handed batsman, Ramdin averages a meagre 22 in Tests and 19 in One-Day Internationals.

Since his axing, wicketkeeping duties have been shared by Carlton Baugh and rookie Devon Thomas.

Baugh has been included in the Test squad but dropped for the ODI trip, in a surprising move. The 29-year-old Jamaican has averaged 32 from his last eight innings.

CMC also understands there has been no room found for front-line all-rounder Dwayne Bravo in the ODI squad.

The 27-year-old, who has played 117 ODIs, last played for West Indies in the second one-dayer of the five-match series against India earlier this year.

Meanwhile, rookie 23-year-old Barbadian all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite has been included in the squad, and will be joined by all-rounders captain Darren Sammy, Kieron Pollard and Andre Russell.

The Bangladesh tour comprises one Twenty20 International, three ODIs and two Tests.
