Saint heads to London Fashion Week
After a blockbuster runway season at the New York Fashion Week where an unprecedented 10 Saint International Models walked for various lead designers, a decidedly confident Saint boss Deiwght Peters has announced that his models are now poised for London Fashion Week.
Interestingly, only one of the models from New York, Raschell Osbourne, has gone to London to walk for designers.
Using an appropriate sporting analogy, Peters said: "The New York girls have given Raschell the baton to take to London for the rest of the team".
The context is appropriate as the international fashion-week season kick-started in New York last Thursday and wrapped with the Marc Jacobs show last Thursday. The fashion carousel winds into London this weekend, Milan on Wednesday and then stops in Paris.
Word out of London and Paris is that Saint's newest sensations Tsheca White and Kim Gordon have been causing much excitement among the selective clients. Kim is signed to Elite Europe (London, Milan and Paris), while Tsheca has a special arrangement with power-house Storm (home of legendary supermodel and September Vogue cover-girl Kate Moss) for bookings in London and Milan, while Silent Models will do the honours in Paris. Saint International is the exclusive worldwide manager of all the models.
Jamaican fashion ambassadors
With almost 14 models from his agency represented by the world's leading agencies in the fashion capitals of London, New York, Paris and Milan, and who are meeting the world's most influential designers, stylists, show producers and casting directors, Peters says his models are the pre-eminent Jamaican fashion ambassadors on the world runways. Saint models graced the runways of almost 45 designers throughout New York Fashion Week.
Over the last three years, Saint models have led the Jamaican sass on to the world's most notable runways, including Jil Sander, Givenchy, Calvin Klein, Chado Ralph Rucci, Lamb by Gwen Stafani, Tommy Hilfiger, Custo Barcelona, Jil Sander, Top Shop, Sonia Rykiel, Cacharel, Paul Costelloe, Viviene Westwood.
Peters just returned from New York, where he met with some of the world's top agents. He has revealed that a number of his new faces have just been signed to agencies in the city.
"We were always leaders in that regard, and it's wonderful that after 10 years on the world fashion stage, leaders are acknowledging Saint as a source of quality faces for the industry," Peters said.
The fashion-week action now moves onto London, where British fashion magic will be showcased for brands such a Mulberry, Burberry, Vivene Westwood, KTZ, Issa, among others. Milan will then take the baton where trend-makers and red carpet favourites such as Versace, Prada, Giorgio Armani, Jil Sander, Fendi, Dolce and Gabanna will unveil trends for Spring/Summer 2012.
The fashion show-week cycle comes to a close in Paris with legends like Yves St Laurent, Givenchy, Louis Vuitton, Kenzo, Ungaro, et al showcasing what will become wardrobe favourites come Spring/Summer 2012.
