The Bird-shooting season is winding down and, as is customary, the Driftwood Gun Club uses the fourth weekend to mingle and party with the community of Treasure Beach in St Elizabeth as well as some specially invited guests.

Last weekend, one of the highlights was the buffalo feed held at Dr Marc Panton's farm in Mountainside in the parish. Following the morning shoot, the club members enjoyed libations and a scrumptious menu of cow foot and beans, freshly picked avocado pears, roasted breadfruit, jerked chicken, spare ribs, lots of fresh vegetables and, of course, roasted buffalo.

Talk was light and the ambience was relaxing as the guys passed the time before heading out to the stands for the afternoon shoot. Among the specially invited guests were Prime Minister Bruce Golding, Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Robert Montague, Information Minister Daryl Vaz and Digicel CEO Mark Linehan.

Proceeds from fund-raising activities held throughout the season will go towards painting the police station in the area and other well-needed projects.
