Model hopefuls take on 'Runway Challenge'

There was a surprisingly large turnout at Studio 38 on Saturday night, as patrons gathered to watch model 'wannabes' strut their stuff in the runway category of the Caribbean Model Search competition, to see who would walk away as the ruler of the runway and winner of this challenge.
The beginning of the show was signalled with a brief but entertaining dance routine. This got some of the patrons in the mood for a satisfying night while others sat with their backs turned, oblivious to what was taking place on stage.
Disappointingly, the rest of the night merely dragged along, leaving an even more unmemorable taste in patron's mouth.
The statuesque contestants rocked the runway, each hoping to come out on top.
There was a 'fluffy' group that represented the fast-growing full-figured category. These voluptuous females were just as fierce, if not even more so than the rest of the pack.
After all, the contestants had paraded for the patrons in attendance for what seemed to be an eternity. It was then time for the top contestants and subsequent winners to be selected.
While this decision was being deliberated, patrons were treated to a high-energy performance by promising young artist Jedani.
Adding some spark
The upcoming artiste added some spark to a relatively dull night. He even performed an inspirational song dedicated to the contestants in the competition. This was arguably the best performance that graced the Studio 38 stage for the night. A job well done.
After his performance, Jedani shared with The Gleaner that he felt very relaxed on stage and that his performance came as naturally as it seemed.
In the end, the winners for the respective categories were announced. Shanique Richards for Petite Fashion Model, Zawadi Doig-Maitland for Male Face of the Caribbean, Trivene Houston for the Full-Figured Model competition and Anisha Pitterson for Fashion Model.
The audience was seemingly quite pleased at the results and did their best to cheer on each contestant as they had their final photo-op for the night.
