There are many 'hype' Kingston parties, to the point that it would appear the capital is the only place where exciting parties on a regular basis are held in Jamaica. However, on October 1, Whitney Turn, Porus, Manchester, gets its dose of Corporate Area-style fun with Splash.

Patrick 'Cue P' Pinnock, promoter of the event, said that having attended school in Kingston he wanted to share his experiences with his community and therefore decided to host the party. "I am not living in Kingston again, so I am going to introduce this experience for the first time in the rural district," he said.

Underlining meaning

Splash is a water party but, according to the promoter, the name has an underlining meaning that should get the ladies interested. "It's a water party, but I wanted the name to be significant, plus add some form of curiosity, so for the ladies Splash means 'Sexy, Pretty, Ladies Are Sent Here'," he said. There is also a unique twist as, unlike all-inclusive parties where patrons pay for admission and eat and drink free, at Splash partygoers will be admitted into the event free, but all drinks and food will be on sale.

According to Pinnock, he wants everybody to be free to indulge in the experience.

A bus will also be provided to transport partygoers from Kingston to the location, the amount of buses and departure times based on demand. "Persons from Kingston have expressed that they want to get away from the capital to just go to the rural area and have fun," he said. At Splash, music will be by Royal Mystic Sound System, with DJ Freestyle, DJ Wow and Kingston-based DJs Deadline.

Splash runs from noon to midnight.

"We will have designated parking areas and security will be intact, so just come out and party. We also have guest performances. It's all about youthful exuberance," Pinnock said.
