WESTERN BUREAU:
In a bid to boost employee morale and reward their efforts in the continued success of Secrets Resorts and Spa in Montego Freeport, the hotel awarded 27 staff members at its quarterly awards ceremony.
The Employee and Leader of the Quarter Awards Function was hosted at the hotel under a Jamaica carnival theme.
According to the public relations coordinator, Tamara Thompson, the awards ceremony celebrates the success of the staff members who have worked hard through the months in their respective departments.
"We understand the value of our staff at Secrets and the work that they put in to get their jobs done, and these awards are to show them our appreciation while motivating them to continue doing well," Thompson said.
She explained that the Jamaica carnival theme was Secrets Resorts' way of bringing carnival to the employees who have not had a chance to experience it first-hand.
Thompson added that the hotel management went a bit further with the awards to honour those who had contributed some excellent ideas to either improve on the hotel's efficiency, or enhance the productivity of other employees.
"We had a category for the Best Idea. Our staff has some tremendous ideas, and we thought it was important to recognise this. Some of them included cost reduction on bottled water and having a barber salon for male workers on the hotel property."
The Employee of the Month for May, June, July, and August, respectively, were Allan McIntyre, Nicholine Ffrench, Althea Simmonds, and Knashville Fraser. Over 100 employees were awarded throughout the event.
Robert Coates, guest services manager at Secrets Resorts, was commissioned as a justice of the peace on the same day as the awards ceremony.
"We celebrate excellence and it is an esteemed honour of service, and the Secrets family congratulates Coates on his achievement. We are very proud of him," Thompson concluded.
