Queen's hit Waterford for 100

PRESEASON favourites The Queen's School made an impressive start in the Digicel/ISSA Corporate Area Schoolgirls' Netball Competition last Friday.

Playing at home, Queen's swept aside visitors Waterford High in both the senior and junior sections. The seniors scored an overwhelming 106-2 victory, while the juniors whipped their opponents 38-4.

After dominating the junior competition for the past two seasons, it was a stroll in the park for the Marvette Anderson-coached seniors. National Under-21 players Shade French, Khadejah Williams and Melissa Wright were outstanding. Playing at the higher level for the first time, goal shooter French and goal attack Williams were red hot with their shooting and, in the process, sent a strong message to defending champions St Hugh's.

Anderson, who is also the National Under-21 assistant coach, was very pleased with her teams' winning start.

Impressive performances

"I was very impressed with both teams, and although the juniors are new, I expect them to do well. I am also pleased that the senior team was able to score over 100 goals in 48 minutes," said Anderson.

It was also a perfect start for defending senior champions St Hugh's as they turned back Charlie Smith 55-10, while their juniors won 38-3.
