Pomedy heads to Britain
Yasus Afari is taking his Pomedy show overseas. The Rastafarian poet's mix of poetry and comedy is scheduled to play five dates in Britain in October.
Afari will be accompanied by poet Joan Andrea Hutchinson, who has appeared on several Pomedy shows in Kingston and St Elizabeth. Local British acts are also expected to perform at the events.
The first show is down for October 14 at the Broadway Theatre in Catford, London, with the second taking place one week later in Birmingham at The Drum.
The remaining Pomedy British dates are scheduled for The Millennium Centre and Burleigh Academy in Wales on October 29, before closing at the Arena Theatre in Wolverhampton, on November 5.
Afari's Pomedy series debuted at his alma mater, St Elizabeth Technical High School, in June 2009. It has also played at the Redbones Blues Café in Kingston.
