WESTERN BUREAU:

Do not be swayed by his youthful charm as 20-year-old Lamar Fongsue is an avid entrepreneur who is intent on making his mark on the global mobile-advertising network through his company, mkMob Private Limited.

The Jamaica-born youth, now residing in the United States of America, is the co-founder and chief marketing officer of mkMob Private Limited. He is also responsible for managing all marketing, attracting new customers and investors, as well as spreading the mkMob brand throughout the mobile-ad space.

"Good work ethics to me really pay off in the long run as anything that comes easily can be lost within a minute, but with hard work and dedication you build yourself upon a strong foundation," the technology enthusiast said. "To me, technology is one step closer to complete greatness and mobile being the future."

Being raised in the tough community of Flankers in Montego Bay, the desire to execute his passion for technology drove him to be the best that he could be.

"Growing up in my community, it was more like at a crossroad - you either had to go left or right. I went right, meaning, I took the progressive path to life."

Lamar has developed strong work ethics and a desire to excel that is beyond his years - characteristics that he takes great pride in maintaining.

He quickly added: "Being my own boss allows me to set my own work schedule, but it doesn't make me lazy. Being an employee and having a bigger boss, a simple mistake could get you fired!"

Great potential

As a certified computer technician and network administrator, Lamar realised he had more potential, and as such, he formed an alliance with business partner Akeno Barrett and came up with the idea for mkMob.

"Oftentimes, people seem to get confused about mobile advertising, but basically, what we do is advertise a company's brand or product within our network through a wide variety of channels including entertainment, dating, downloads, and news," he explained. "It is the latest wave in technology and it has immense potential."

In the next 10 years, the optimistic entrepreneur sees his company as being the number one mobile-advertising network.
