Meadows, Blazers in big clash

A pulsating encounter is expected today when Mega Mart Blazers oppose Spanish Town Meadows in the Institute of Sports (INSPORTS) Southern Conference Community Basketball play-offs at the National Stadium Courts starting at 7:30 p.m.

In the opening game of the double-header, Portmore Blazers will battle Fire Services at 6:15 p.m.

The game between the Blazers and Meadows is a very crucial match, as the winners will advance to the semi-finals.

North Street Heats, which have already played their two matches in the three-team group, lead the table with three points, one ahead of Mega Mart (two), while Meadows have one. The winner of each match receives two points.

"Everybody is quite anxious because this is a very important game for us as anybody who wins tomorrow will advance to the semi-finals," said Blazers' captain Damion Richards.

Richards, Redhay Broomfield, Rohan McKenzie, and Fabian Murray will lead the Blazers charge.

Marlon Deale, manager of Meadows, who were beaten by the Heats in their opening match, is very optimistic of his team's chances.

"We are very confident based on how we have been playing in the competition," said Deale. "I know that we have the ability to go very far in this championships."
