Three Jamaicans in CCC squad

• Mico duo pleased with selection

THE Mico University College duo of Jason Dawes and Herman Henry, along with former Kingston College outstanding all-rounder, Akeem Dewar, have been selected in the Combined Campuses and College (CCC) 14-man squad to contest the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Super-50 Championship from October 18-29.

The Jamaicans were included in the Floyd Reifer-coached team following their participation in a 10-day trial recently in Barbados. Reifer will also play for the team that will be captained by Vincentian Romel Currency.

Dawes, a first-year student at The Mico University College, has represented Jamaica at both junior and senior levels, his last assignment coming earlier this year in the four-day competition. The right-handed pacer, who represents Westmoreland in the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) Limited Overs Championship, is very pleased with his selection.

"I feel very good that I was able to make the final 14 for the CCC team in this one-day competition. I have not played at this level in one-day competition for a long while," said the former St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) player.

During the trial, Henry returned bowling figures of four for 25 and two for 37, along with scores of 79 and 44. The former Titchfield High representative, a Mico University third-year student, is very excited about his inclusion.

"This is a big moment for me and I will be using the opportunity to the best of my ability, as this is a big stepping stone for future representation; and hopefully I can do very well so that in the future I can represent my country and the West Indies," said Henry.

Both Dawes and Henry will leave the country this weekend, as Dewar is already in Barbados, where he is studying at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill.
