The Pick-9 had no takers at Caymanas Park on Wednes-day, even though the day's big upset, BROTHER TO BROTHER at 38-1 in the second race, came outside the Pick-9 races.

The carryover remains at $1 million, but should start to grow, given today's betting prospects. The Pick-9 will embrace all nine races, the first Super-6 from race two to seven, the overlapping Super-6 from four to nine.

We look at the second Super-6 which commences with a 3-y-o maiden condition race over 1600 metres in which JJ'S GIRL will prove hard to beat.

Trained by Tensang Chung, the bay filly caught the eye on September 17 when a fast-finishing second to MR ALLIANCE over 1820 metres, a race in which FIRST OF ALL was only a length behind her in third. With title-chasing jockey Shane Ellis replacing apprentice Richard Cole aboard JJ'S GIRL, the hint should be taken.

So it's JJ'S GIRL to open her account at the expense of FIRST OF ALL and MR PERFECTION, who found only THE RUNNING MAN too good over 1400 metres last Saturday.

PRINCE OF ARABIA who, contrary to popular opinion, is a 'run on sprinter', should catch the fleet-footed APPLELLANT in the closing stages of the fifth race over 1100 metres, to be contested by nine starters.

Also in the line-up is the lightly raced YESWECAN, who bids for his fourth consecutive win, as well as WAIT A WHILE and the speedy pair of HIGH CUBE and LESTERAE, all of whom should make the race quite competitive.

However, I expect the Gary Subratie-trained APPELLANT to lead HIGH CUBE and LESTERAE a merry dance into the straight, but I doubt he can escape the consistent PRINCE OF ARABIA (with a mere 50.0kg) in deep stretch.

HE'S A DREAMER, now eased in the weights after failing to justify favouritism (2-5) when stepping down to $180,000 claiming recently, should recoup losses at the expense of GHOST RAPPER and the slow-starting RULE BY SECRECY in the sixth race over 1500 metres.

These three are basically a cut above their opponents in the 13-strong field and, as such, should decide the outcome, but HE'S A DREAMER, who ran on a $450,000 claiming tag as recent as September 7, is given the edge with 54.0kg, despite managing only fourth to AOKI LEI over 1400 metres under 57.0kg recently.

SWEET TRAIL, having worked well last Sunday morning (galloped 1:00.0 flat for five furlongs) gets the nod over TRADITIONAL PRINCE, LUSCIOUS and THE MESSENGER in the knotty-looking seventh race over 1200 metres for three-year-olds.

The 12 runners should provide keen competition, but with SWEET TRAIL coming off an easy victory over 1100 metres in her previous race, this filly, who notched her first win over this trip last Boxing Day, has the right credentials, especially with leading jockey Dick Cardenas aboard.

Six-month absence

The sparingly raced ISNT SHE SOMETHIN, who races for the first time since finishing fourth to NIPHAL in the April 2 1000 Guineas, should return with a bang in the eighth race over 1200 metres for the Flossie McNeil Memorial Cup for fillies and mares.

Trained by 14-time champion Philip Feanny, this grey filly returns from a six-month absence well prepared, and having demonstrated a bit more class than rivals, gets the nod over WAGON WHEEL in a field of 12.

Then, take MOLTEN KING, who is ideally drawn on the outside of the 15-horse field, to lead home PRINCESS DECIE and CLASSY KELLY in the closing race over 1300 metres.
