The BATTLE for sub-compact supremacy has heated up with the introduction of the 2012 Suzuki Swift GLX T.

And, Chris Callen, Suzuki brand manager at Stewart's Auto Sales, believes that this vehicle is a sure winner.

"It's small, powerful and a gas sipper. It's very fuel-efficient and gives about 40-odd miles to the gallon," Callen told Automotives at the Orchard Road head office.

According to Callen, the new Suzuki Swift GLX T is much larger and offers more space than its predecessors.

"Even though it's considered a sub-compact vehicle, it is actually the size of the compact car," he said.

The vehicle's body reflects an evolution of Suzuki's Total Effective Control Technology concept for impact safety. And, it's 60:40 split-folding rear seat creates larger cargo space.

Enhanced engineering

"The enhanced engineering features make the vehicle more reliable," Callen said.

The five-door sub-compact ride is powered by a KB14B 1.4-litre petrol engine that has an outstanding power-to-weight ratio, newly improved port shapes, and technologies that minimise friction.

"Its lumbar support bucket seats were redesigned for additional comfort, making it a pleasure to drive over long distances," Callen said.

And, the price?

"The base model starts at $2.36 million and its the best value for money as it has a three-year warranty and three-year roadside assistance," he added.
