Pitter, Eubanks top MoBay 7K

SHAUN Pitter, running unattached, and Edwin Allen High School's Marleena Eubanks, captured the respective male and female segments of the Burger King 7K in Montego Bay yesterday, as the road race Grand Prix series got underway.
Pitter continued from where he left off last year, as he got the better of the very consistent Kirk Brown, who represented Ebony Seek Books.
Pitter covered the course in 22 minutes, 32 seconds, while Brown clocked 22:53. Damion Bent, also competing unattached, was third in 23:11. Orane Wint (23:45) of Bellefield High, who was fourth, was the first schoolboy to finish the course.
Eubanks, who captured the girl's 3000 metres open at Girl's Champs, won the female category in 28:31 as her teammate, Desreen McKenzie, was second in 29:31. Areita Martin took third in 29: 38.
Eubanks was very pleased with her first road success.
"This is the first time I am winning a road event and I am very happy ... I didn't believe I could win. I am happy to know that top teams like Holmwood and St Jago were there and I was still able to come out on top," said Eubanks.
Edwin Allen took the lead in the high school team section for females ahead of Holmood Technical and St. Jago, respectively. St Jago led the boys' section ahead of Holmwood and Bellefield, respectively.
