Glenmuir lead list of new qualifiers

Former champions Glenmuir High School joined Denbigh High as Zone I qualfiers for the inter-zone round of the 2011-12 ISSA/Gatorade/Digicel daCosta Cup schoolboy football competition yesterday afternoon, when they defeated Vere Technical 2-0 to move up to 29 points.

In the same group, Denbigh were also in spanking good form, scoring a big 4-1 over out-of-contention Garvey Maceo to complete their fixtures with 30 points. Glenmuir need to win at least one of their two remaining games to grab the group's lone Ben Francis KO slot ahead of the Denbigh team.

In Zone H, leaders Clarendon College and last year's beaten finalists Lennon High wrapped up the group's two inter-zone places, after respective 1-0 and 9-1 wins against Edwin Allen and Porus High. Clarendon College moved up to 29 points, while Lennon are one point back on 28.

St mary high victorious

In Zone D, St Mary High joined St Mary Technical in the inter-zone round after a Torey Forbes hat-trick gave them a 3-2 win against Brimmervale. The win took St Mary High to 15 points, and with leaders St Mary Technical losing 2-0 to Iona High to stay on 16 points, the group's winner will not be decided before Saturday.

In Zone E, Grange Hill surged to the top of the group standings after they defeated Godfrey Stewart 1-0, and previous leaders Manning's lost 3-2 to Petersfield to remain stuck on 20 points.
