Already established as one of the most highly attended annual parties at UWI, Mask A Raid promises to deliver another mind-blowing experience to its loyal followers tonight.

The party is staged by the Aston Preston Hall at UWI, Mona, and the hall's public relations officer, Caribe Breese, along with Cultural Entertainment Affairs Chairperson Artonna Edwards, promises it will be all high energy. "This year we have the same high energy we are known to deliver over the years, and we have new innovations - that will not be disclosed - as a surprise for the patrons," Breese said.

Unique experience

The theme for this year's staging of Mask A Raid is Wild Temptation, and Edwards plans to go all out with the decorations, which will match the theme of the party. According to Breese, the party has grown to be a unique experience, filled with excitement.

"This event has grown to be a concept where persons can get free and just enjoy themselves, and that is why this year it's called Wild Temptations," Edwards said. And what would a Mask A Raid be without masks and water? According to the Preston public relations officer, the event will have every item that makes the party unique. "We will have Mardi Gras beads, masks, water trucks, slides and body-painted Mask A Raid girls," Breese said.

Breese said the event is one of the bigger and better campus events and even compared it to the renowned UWI carnival. "On campus everybody knows about Mask A Raid, because it is one of the most anticipated events. It should be a part of every fresher's experience on campus," Breese said.

The disc jockeys charged with the responsibility of delivering that promised high energy through music are, ZJ Chrome, DJ Billy, ZJ Ice, Jamrock and DJ Kaniva. Admission is $600 and $700 at the gate, with ladies enjoying 2-4-1 entry before 11 p.m. Mask A Raid will have a detox bar where soup, water and food will be sold. Security will be provided by campus police and security personnel.

Mask A Raid takes place in Preston Hall's parking lot.
